HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL IN LUXOR

The Event:

Egypt will wetness the First International Balloon Festival in Luxor from the 9th
.
To
the 16
th
.
Of
December 2016, a meeting of 80 balloon amateur pilots from different countries
worldwide
–
in
view of the preliminary registrations
–
will be flying in the sky of the ancient city of Luxor, enjoying
the view of the Nile
River
and its famous heritage of monuments, challenging in amicable
competitions energizing their flights.
It is quite evi
dent that this event is not limited to
ballooning
activities that all pilots are dreaming
with, but it has a wide scope of touristic programs that will contribute to the visit of Luxor.
An evening flight is scheduled with a landing at sun set in the desert
, where a Bedwen night will be
organized to enjoy the fascination of the desert, the
Bedwen folkloric
dances and the grilled Bedwen
food.
The Venue
:
Luxor is the selected venue of the event , it is situated 800 Km to the south of Cairo , and
often called the world's greatest open air museum , but that comes nowhere near describing this
extraordinary place, nothing in the world compares to the scale a
nd grandeur of the monuments
that have survived from ancient Thebes.
The setting is breathtakingly beautiful, the Nile flowing between the modern city and west
-
bank necropolis, backed by the enigmatic Theban escarpment. Scattered across the landscape is a
n
embarrassment of riches, from the temples of
Karnak
and Luxor in the east to the many tombs and
temples on the west bank.
The opening ceremony will take p
lace at the temple of Luxor in such a fascinating environment,
presenting some Egyptian Folkloric dances.
The flying activities will be organized at the take of strip dedicated to hot air balloons used for
commercial touristic flights. While the landings w
ill be at the landing strip currently used for
touristic commercial balloons.
