Voar Na Beira Baixa

In the heart of Portugal is located a territory full of history, natural beauty and rural charm: Beira Baixa is a true open-air museum. Dozens of hot air balloons will fly above the roads, trails and dazzling landscapes of the Intermunicipal Community of Beira Baixa’s councils: Castelo Branco, Idanha-a-Nova, Oleiros, Penamacor, Proença-a-Nova and Vila Velha de Ródão.
From March 30th to April 4th 2021, during Eastern holidays in the Peninsula, the skies of Beira Baixa will host the first hot air ballooning event in the Center of Portugal. Six days during which hot air balloon flights will take place, alongside with open-air nature activities, cultural discovering and gastronomical experiences.
The event, with hot air balloons and pilots coming from lots of countries, will be the ambassador of the new experience offered by Beira Baixa to those visiting the territory with the project “Beira Baixa: 3 Days, 3 Experiences”, supported by Tourism of Central Portugal.
Gradually positioning Beira Baixa as one of Portugal’s ballooning scene hotspots, the event will help in the effort of qualification and touristic valorization of the most differentiating endogenous potential of the region.
